Latest Items

So I have some new items to show you, some were out a while ago and some only came out yesterday.

Right, the first two are some more A3 posters which are based on the TV show Sons of Anarchy. I wanted to re-create the wall of mugshots that is present in the SOA clubhouse so I first drew Jax as he's the main character. I then decided to add Clay into the mix as he's Jax's main problem that keeps coming back to bite on the arse.

Here's what they look like anyways, I hope you like them :)

The next item on the list is my latest product - hip flasks. I wanted to make a product that people would buy for others as gifts and with winter on our doorsteps along with Christmas I thought what better than a hip flask. It provides a little tipple for the cold weather plus adds a bit of style on the way.

I made four designs, hopefully to suit everyone. So I have a traditional whiskey barrel style with a tattoo influenced image on the front. The weighted companion cube from Portal, for all you fellow gamers out there. Last but not least, a traditional winter pattern in pink or grey.

Each design has been printed onto high quality vinyl which has been tested up 30 metres for waterproofing (not that you'd be drinking at that level but just in case you decide to)

All the new items have been uploaded to my website, so feel free to pop over there to check them out further!

Respect The Chemistry.

I love Breaking Bad, it's an awesome TV show that keeps you on your toes through every episode. I started to doodle the characters at first then it turned into a mini project which finally got developed into a finished product - A3 posters/prints.

I made a list of items that made an impact in the show such as the moth image on the methylamine barrels, the purple teddy plus the fly. I linked up certain items with each characters and tried out a few ideas and compositions.

I wanted to bring in the pack of cards theme into the design as a way of identifying the characters seeing as I wanted to use Walter & Heisenberg (which if you watch the show, you will know that they are the same person). Another reason I wanted the playing card idea was for the spade symbol which represents the death card - the ace of spades. The minimal use of black and shades of primary colours also pays homage to picture cards.

I limited the posters to 100 of each design, which I personally signed & numbered on the back of each print.

Glam Girls in Kidderminster

Last night I took part in the Glam Girls shopping, pamper & physic night at The Gainsborough House Hotel. It was a lovely event which included tarot card reading, nail technicians, crystal therapy & much more.

A good friend of mine & fellow designer Karen Perry was also at the event showcasing her latest screen printed tote bags & tea towels. Check her out, she's not only a lovely person but an awesome designer!

I'd like to thank you if came along to the event or if you helped make it happen.

Photo Shoot

I'd been meaning to do a Lynsey Luu photo shoot for a while now but could never find the time to do so. Then a friend of mine asked if he could do a shoot for me, I said yea which started the ball rolling and we began to look for models and possible locations.

Once all the details were chosen, it was time to get everyone in the same place at the same time which is quite hard to be honest especially when it snows!

The shoot was done on the evening and luckily there wasn't any snow but I told the models to bring a hoody in case it did get cold. It was bloody freezing but hopefully they were a bit warmer than if they just had the T-shirt on *fingers crossed*

Photographer: Ashley Chandler
Photographer's Assistant: Samm Goodall

Male Model: Joe Bradley
Female Model: Laura Leather

Location: Stourbridge

Thanks to everyone who helped out. Here's a more relaxed picture of Joe & Laura that was took in-between shots.

Wollaston Market

Yesterday I had a stall at St. James Church Hall in Wollaston and it was a great way to start to a day! It was from 10a.m till 2p.m and the weather was perfect for passers by to come have a quick nose at all the items available.

This was the first of hopefully many monthly flea markets for Carnaby's Markets and some of the proceeds were even donated to the local primary school to help underprivileged children to go on school trips.

It was the first time I had showcased my latest items such as the Awesome Tee & WTF Beanie, here's some images I took of my stall.

Everyone had a smile on their face (probably due to the weather as spring is finally here!) plus it was such a great turn out especially as it was the first market. Thanks to everyone who came to say hi, hopefully I'll see some of you again very soon!

AWESOME

So the latest T-shirt design is currently available for pre order - Awesome :)

This is how the concept was developed into the final design.

One night I wanted to design a crest style image and thought "Well I want it to look awesome obviously, what shall I draw that's awesome?" So I popped onto Facebook and asked my friends to list things that they thought were awesome. Here's some of the list:

Turtles, cheese on toast, anyone called Joe, giraffes, tree frogs, a wolf, owls, ninjas, pirates, robots, jet packs, ghosts, Pokemon, tattoos, zombies, swords, dragons, a phoenix, ice cream.....etc

1. I started off with the shield and two mirrored T-Rexs holding it. Then the two mermaids were added, I didn't want these to match. A basic scroll banner was also added.

2. A pair of robots were placed behind the T-rexs, they're based on the wind up toy ones. The scroll changed size and position.

3. The shield had some items added to it - my sugar skulls, an anchor, lightning bolts, and a tattoo style rose. Awesome was added to the scroll.

4. I changed the shield around as I didn't like the composition inside. I moved the anchor to one of the mermaid's arms as a tattoo, plus I gave the other one an eye patch to make her pirate-like. The owl was also added.

FINAL. A diamond was used to fill the gap between the owl and the scroll and a small Poke-ball was added between the two T-rex. Stars filled up the gap in the shield plus I changed one of the mermaid's hairstyle. Then everything was neatened up for the final vector file.

I drew stages 1-4 on my iPad using an app called iDraw, the final was neatened up in Illustrator. This is the first time I have used my iPad to design the whole thing.

Thanks to everyone who helped add to the list. See if you can spot the ninja ;)

While walking through the industrial looking corridors, my imagination was running wild as I thought of all the wonders behind each door. I arrived at Bits & Bows HQ and I was not disappointed, the burst of colour made the sunny day even brighter.
